Show and Tell from Carol's Porch!

I love this picture because not only does it show
Kathy's beautiful quilt and the yummy snacks we shared,
but Kathy's grandson who came too!

Here's a better shot of it that Kathy sent me.
It's a Half Square, Quarter Square Sampler

Here's the quilt Chiska started for her daugher at the retreat
Her Mom did an amazing job hand quilting it.
There are X-wings quilted into the border.

The back

Carol's work of art is completed!

The quilting is as gorgeous as the quilt

The back

Here is the back a little closer

Kathy brought her Grandmother's wedding dress

Isn't it incredible?!

I don't know how I managed to not get a picture of the front,
but there are 3 handmade buttons on the front.

Carol gave us a fun house tour and we were able to see some
wonderful family treasures and her gorgeous deck/patio's.
Thank's Carol!

Hope to see you next month on August 24th at Jeri's

June Show and Tell

Mary brought quilts from the library so we took a minute to show them

Here's Sue's fantastic flower quilt with all kinds of fun embellishments

Can you see the mouse's tail?  The mouse can come out from under
the quilt and play and then get snapped back into bed.  And it has two tails!

Here's Joyce's wonderful bag

And it's incredible contents:
Joyce's Night Cats

And the backing

This wonderful quilt Mary made for Nonie...after
Nonie designed it on a design wall Mary set up at the
library to keep their spirits up.

Kathy made these gorgeous blocks with embroidery and embellishments:

She designed this one herself
The embroidery and crayon coloring are amazing.

Show and Tell

Chiska figured out the book quilt!

And made two.  Hooray!

Here's a book she made--rubber bands and a stick bind it together.
(That's for you Sue!)

It wasn't finished that night, but here's her finished Cowboy's Quilt
A Teacher Gift for a Special Teacher.

Carol finished the top of this amazing RedWork Sampler.

Didn't she do an amazing job on ALL that embroidery?!
The floral is a patterned fabric, the rest is embroidered!

Here's Joyce's Quilt Show Grand Champion Quilt.

She hand quilted it all!

Here's the back, just as fun.

Here's Jeri's Show Quilt.  Such pretty blossoms!

Kathy took her Aunt's old quilt blocks and made this incredible show quilt.

Here's the block that reads white above--it's the softest blues.

She also made this incredible log cabin tree skirt.

Some details of the tree skirt.

The lace edging is made from pieces crocheted by her aunt.

And last, but certainly not least--her other amazing show quilt!

Hope to see you next week!

Show and Tell!

Mary brought "That Damn Silk Quilt" so named by her Mom.

Pictures really don't do it justice.  It has the loveliest shimmer.

Chiska brought a partially put together Cathedral Window Quilt

We had a great demonstration of the Press and Seal Quilting method by Joyce.

She used this lovely quilt to show us how to trace the pattern on the press and seal
and then place it on the quilt.

She shared a tip with us:
If you make a knot in the end of thread
that comes off the spool your thread won't twist and get knotted up.

Here is the Press and Seal applied to the quilt

Here is a sample of a quilted piece.

The pattern extended:

We also began talking about doing a day long quilt retreat in June.
A chance to sew together at the Rectory.

See you next month on April 27 at 7p.m
